Melissa Matlow has a BSc in Ecology and a Masters in Environmental Studies and has been leading successful animal welfare and environmental advocacy campaigns for more than 20 years.

She is passionate about animal welfare and the important role it plays in addressing climate change, the biodiversity crisis, pandemic /disease risk and antimicrobial resistance. She has written and contributed to numerous reports, blogs and op eds on a variety of animal welfare issues including zoo standards, the commercial wildlife trade, responsible tourism, farmed animal welfare standards, farmed animal transport regulations, humane and sustainable food policy and how Canada’s animal protection laws compare to other juisdictions. Since Melissa regularly advises government and companies on animal welfare policies, she frequently shares campaign updates and tips on how to influence these decision makers.
